Immortal Exploits for Air Force

The Sinuiju Aviation Club stands as it was, telling of the immortal guidance of President Kim Il Sung for it.

In the club there is seen a photograph of Kim Il Sung standing against a glider.

Leader Kim Jong Il saw the photograph with deep emotion more than once, saying it is really a precious photograph and the President at that time was a young General in his thirties.

The President arrived in Sinuiju in November 1945 when Korea was liberated from the Japanese rule and visited the club at the request of officials of the Aviation Club.

He mounted a truck without ceremony, though the officials were sorry for their failure to provide a passenger car.

He looked round several training rooms of the club before delivering a historic speech in the general lecture room.

The speech was entitled "Let Us Found an Air Corps of a New Korea".

That day he consented to the unanimous request of the officials to assume the chairmanship of the Korean Aviation Society.

That was how the air force started to be built in the DPRK.

Afterwards, the club produced 4 heroes of the Republic.

Hero Li Mun Sun, a pursuit plane pilot, shot down a "B-29" called a "fortress in the sky", hero Paek Ki Rak, conducting tens of rounds of air battles, overpowered the arrogant American pilots with his unbreakable mental power and thus demonstrated the mettle of a pilot of the Korean People's Army and hero Li Hui Yong sank or damaged two U.S. destroyers.

Though small, the Sinuiju Aviation Club teaches a truth.

Equipped with the strongest military facilities, an armed force can't help defeat without being commanded by an illustrious general, while an armed force trained under the guidance of a great commander emerges ever-victorious.
