Pubyok Pavilion, Historic Relics in Pyongyang

There are many famous historic relics showing the long history and brilliant culture of our nation in Pyongyang. Among them is the Pubyok Pavilion on Moran Hill around which the River Taedong flows.

The Pubyok Pavilion was built in 393 during the period of Koguryo and the present pavilion was rebuilt in 1614.

The Pubyok Pavilion was used as a command post of battle during the wartime.

There is a story about a Koryo poet who tried to write a poem on the beautiful scenery in the pavilion, but lamented for failing to express the scene with his wits.

The Pubyok Pavilion is in harmony with the fantastic scenery of Moran Hill. In particular, the night view of the pavilion is fascinating when the moon is fully illuminated.

So, from old times, to enjoy the full moon in the Pubyok Pavilion is known as one of Eight Scenes of Pyongyang.
