Unforgettable Meeting for Radical Turn in Party Work of People’s Army

The last Fatherland Liberation War was the harshest ordeal for our country and people as it was held five years after our Party was founded and only two years after our revolutionary armed forces were developed into the regular armed forces.

President Kim Il Sung put primary effort into strengthening the Party, staff of the revolution, as the guiding force for the war victory in order to defeat the imperialist allied forces led by the U.S.

At that time there were Party organizations in military academies and some units of the Korean People’s Army.

On October ２１, １９５０, the President convened the historic meeting of the Political Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea Central Committee in the Soksa Valley of Tongchang County, North Phyongan Province and made a concluding speech "On Forming Workers’ Party of Korea Organizations in the People’s Army".

The President stressed that the meeting decided on forming the WPK organizations in the People’s Army saying that it failed to conduct well the work for realizing the Party’s leadership over the People’s Army and strengthening fighting efficiency of the units because there had been no Party organization in the People’s Army.

Then he indicated the tasks and detailed ways for the Party organizations and political organs.

The participants in the meeting expressed full support and approval of the wise measure taken by the President.

In a short span of time after the meeting, the Departments of Culture in the People’s Army were reorganized as the Political Departments and the WPK organizations were organized in the units and sub-units in good order. Then the new Party organizations could successfully perform the role of organizer and encourager educating all the Party members and soldiers with loyalty to the President and arousing them to the strengthening the fighting efficiency of the People’s Army.

So, our People’s Army could more successfully perform its mission and role during the fierce war and soldiers fully displayed the heroic spirit of unhesitatingly sacrificing their valuable lives for the leader, country and people.

Indeed, the wise leadership of the President, who enhanced the Party’s guidance on the People’s Army and saw to it that the Party’s political work was actively conducted among the soldiers, was one of the main factors for the war victory.

The meeting of the Political Committee of the WPK Central Committee held in the Soksa Valley during the war ７０-odd years ago is shining in the history of our Party as a significant one which brought about a radical turn in the Party work of the People’s Army.
