100-Year-Long Future and 10-Year Goal

Under the wise leadership of the great Party to turn ours into a country of education and talents by developing education, lots of gigantic undertakings are going on to put our education onto the world’s advanced level.

Take the improvement of conditions and environment for education of schools across the country for instance.

Last year alone, Songga Senior Middle School in Kangdong County was renovated anew on a model level and, following it, more than 340 schools, 780-odd branch schools and over 150 kindergartens were built anew or remodeled on a modern footing on a nationwide scale.

Then what touching stories lie beneath such proud realities of our country.

Six years ago, on December 27, 2019, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un met an official and gave precious instructions about his work. Then he brought into conversation the issue of the conditions of schools in the countryside.

Referring to the conditions of middle and primary school buildings in the regions, he taught the official to properly organize and promote the remodeling of schools and assured that he was going to push ahead with school remodeling the next year as a Party-wide undertaking.

The official felt a lump in his throat as he realized the noble intention of the great father who was assuming another heavy task on his shoulders for the rising generation.

But, even then, the official couldn’t fully understand the far-reaching intention of the respected General Secretary for renovating the schools across the country.

Then, one day in January, 2020, the respected General Secretary met the senior officials of the Party Central Committee and underlined the need to modernize schools in the general education sector, putting particular emphasis on newly building or remodeling schools within the next decade. He stressed that they should make stepwise plans with an eye to 10 years ahead and carry them out without fail by starting with the most backward schools.

That day, the respected General Secretary indicated detailed ways and methods concerning the modernization of schools.

On January 24, he instructed the officials to dynamically propel the work to spruce up schools and stressed once again the need to properly map out the 10-year plan for renovating schools on a terminal and annual basis and thoroughly carry them out.

This is not all.

He also took measures for providing the funds needed for sprucing up the schools and saw to it that a powerful central team for controlling the renovation of schools and headquarters with the chief secretaries of provincial, city and county Party committees in charge were organized.

Thanks to the ennobling will of the respected General Secretary, the work to renovate schools could progress dynamically without a moment’s interruption even in the worldwide public health crisis and even when the campaigns for recovering from unexpected natural disasters were underway.

Consequently, lots of schools are being newly built or remodeled every year throughout the country, ranging from the capital city to the out-of-the-way mountain village.

The 10-year goal for firmly guaranteeing the 100-year-long future of the country―this was a manifestation of the warm love for posterity and, at the same time, an eruption of great patriotic will of the peerlessly great man to bring about rosy future of the country by his painstaking efforts.

At the 11th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee, the respected General Secretary stressed the need to push forward the modernization of schools, which claims a lion’s share in strengthening the educational foundations, as a state undertaking, and set an ambitious goal to renovate all schools across the country within the next decade and push it forward persistently so as to carry it through to the end without fail.

Indeed, greater strides will be made in the country’s education thanks to the devoted guidance of the respected General Secretary.

People across the country picture to themselves the brighter and rosier future of the country in the 10-year goal indicated by the great father.
