Criterion of Estimating National Power, Decisive Factor in Strengthening National Power

The theory for socialist construction indicated by the revolutionary ideas of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un provides an original answer to the question of the standard of evaluation of national power and the decisive factor in building up the national power.

In general, national power is an ensemble of the political and military power, economic and technical forces and the level of civilization which guarantees the existence and development of the state.

The objective and material and economic factors cannot be ignored in evaluating the mightiness or weakness of national power and in defining the factors in building up the national power.

However, they are not the absolute standard nor main factors.

The absolute criterion for evaluating national power is the people’s laughter.

The people’s delightful and cheerful laughter is, in essence, the emotional representation of their affluent, civilized, harmonious and happy life in good health free from any worries and an outburst of their pride in the social system of the state and national power guaranteeing the people’s dignified life with nothing to envy.

To bring about rich harvests even in out-of-the-way mountain regions with the implementation of the agricultural policy of the Party and the state, make all the factories full of buzzing sound of machines and let the people’s laughter and songs of happiness fill every nook and corner of the country—this is the genuine power of the socialist state and the standard of evaluation of its power.

The decisive factor in building up the national power is in the great ideas and leadership of a prominent leader.

The power race among countries means the confrontation of statesmen in terms of ideology, ideals, leadership, executive abilities, faith and will.

An incompetent statesman drives even a strong country into ruin while an outstanding leader makes a weak country a power.

Our country and people, once reduced to small and weak country and nation, came to distinguish themselves as a socialist state independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant in defence and heroic people thanks to President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, matchless veteran statesmen.

Today, our people enjoy dignity and fame of the people of a powerful country which no one can flout as they have the respected General Secretary, the greatest thinker and theoretician of the current era and a prominent statesman, and the overall national power and strategic status of our state have reached the top.

History and reality bear clear testimony to the fact that the decisive factor in building up the national power is in holding a great leader as the state leader and following the brilliant guidance of the leader.
