National-dog Phungsan Show Held
The 2025 National-dog Phungsan Show took place at the Central Zoo in the DPRK some days ago.
The show was aimed at conducting a registration survey and purebred evaluation of the Phungsan dog , a state-protected animal, and disseminating scientific and technological knowledge about the standard type and biological characteristics of the dog, thus increasing the number of purebred dogs.
We could feel at the show not only the pride in the national dog but also the people’s patriotism.
Jon Pun Son, an old person from Kim Hyong Gwon County, Ryanggang Province, said that the national show was so good because she could exchange experience with others and compare her Phungsan dog with other local ones to know the advantages and shortcomings of them.
Officials and researchers of Phyongsong University of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry have also made a study for preserving the peculiar characteristics of the Phungsan dog in close cooperation with the members of relevant units. In the course of the research for several years, they have increased the weight of the Phungsan dog and fixed the standard of breeding them and thus won the certificate of registration of the national breed this year.
The show served as another important occasion in protecting the Phungsan dog, pride of country, and further heightening the public concern about the national dog.
