Myonggyong Rock
The Myonggyong rock is situated in Paekchondong valley, Naegumgang-ri, Kumgang County, Kangwon Province.
On the north side of the rock is Manggun Rock, the south is the site of the Jangan Temple and it is surrounded by cliffs.
The Myonggyong Rock, which is a very big standing-stone, is 90 meters high and 30 meters wide.
The surface of the rock seems as if it was well-groomed and rubbed, and has granite-joint cracks on it.
In front of the rock is the Hwangryu Pool (Okgyong Pool), which is big and round. It meanders around the rock.
The pool reflects not only the Myonggyong Rock but also scenery of its surroundings in every season and thus it resembles a piece of beautiful painting.
The Myonggyong Rock is a natural living monument which has a great academic and scenic value.
