New Education Programme to Be Executed from New School Year
A new education programme is to be executed from this school year thanks to the far-reaching plan and wise guidance of our Party which set it as a major task to put the education of the country on an advanced level for the comprehensive development of our-style socialism.
What is important in the new education programme is the optional education process.
In the new education programme, education process has been designed in such a way that general knowledge is taught at primary and junior middle schools according to the unified standard curriculum set by the state and education in the fields of literature, natural science, art, sport and techniques is given at senior middle schools and higher technical middle schools.
This enables, in the long run, all the students to acquire one or more techniques and skills in the stage of secondary education.

True to his noble intention, the education sector has powerfully pushed forward with the formulation of a new compulsory education curriculum, textbook writing and the work for applying the optional education curriculum to several cities and counties on a trial basis.
In the meantime, it organized several short courses on the new curriculum for the officials and educators in the education sector, secured the teaching forces and the material and technological foundations in close contact with provinces, cities and counties and made other preparations.
In January last, a practical course in the field of education was held for the execution of the second universal １２-year compulsory education programme.
The course gave detailed explanations about the definition of new school terms, the contents updated in the education process structure of kindergartens, primary schools and junior middle schools and the optional education process in the education process structure of senior middle schools and higher technical middle schools.
It also dealt with practical issues arising in the preparations for the execution.
Departmental discussions were made and a question-and-answer session was given.
After the course, the participants went round the areas where the new education programme has been applied since last year and listened to the experience gained in education.
Officials and educators in the education sector in different parts of the country are full of confidence and zeal for successfully carrying out the new education programme from this new school year by putting spurs to correctly defining the domains of techniques available in their regions and to strengthening the teaching forces and providing necessary conditions.
