Preserving Strong Symbolic and Specific Characters

He highly appreciated that the service amenities chain built on an overpass have a strong symbolic and peculiar character and that its design and construction were on a high level as desired by the Party.
Looking at the nocturnal view of Hwasong Street with a broad smile on his face for a while, the General Secretary repeatedly expressed satisfaction, saying that it really presented a magnificent sight.
He added that the symbolic building of the third-stage section of the Hwasong area is the service amenities chain while the one of the second-stage section is the Hwasong Taedonggang Beer House.
Officials were wrapped in great emotion as they recalled the painstaking efforts of the General Secretary.
The respected General Secretary had taught to build service amenities chain on an overpass and attentively guided the whole process of the project, personally inspecting the designs.
One day in January ２０２５, he personally drew the decoration design to the officials, saying that the roof decoration should be polished by installing a clock on the arched part of the building and in March that year he again inspected the construction site of １０ ０００ flats at the third-stage in the Hwasong area and stressed about magnifying decorative effect by installing lighting equipment and a large clock.
Looking around the officials full of emotion, the respected General Secretary warmly instructed that every new street to be built in future should have a building symbolic of relevant streets so as to let people remind themselves of those symbolic buildings first when they think about a certain street.
Looking up to the General Secretary, the officials pictured the beautiful appearance of the country in which people’s assets reflecting the present vibrant times and representing the height of our national power and civilization will be mushroomed.
Disallowing Self-complacency
In March ２０２２, the respected General Secretary inspected the construction site of １０ ０００ flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas nearing completion.
In front of the semicircular overpass, he said to the accompanying officials that the Songsin and Songhwa areas presented a striking contrast to Ryomyong Street in the elevation formation and arrangement of buildings, adding that its design was good.
Then he referred to the issue of designing streets to be built in Pyongyang in a more peculiar way, not content with the successes achieved.
Saying that a new history of genuine capital construction should be opened from then on, the respected General Secretary emphasized the need to record in the history of architecture the development of our architecture and transformations brought about by construction projects we launch year by year.
Officials fell deep in thought.
They actually had thought that they just opened a new history of gigantic yet enormous construction with the construction of １０ ０００ flats in Songsin and Songhwa areas marking the start of the construction of ５０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang.
Bearing deeper in their mind the noble intention of the peerlessly great man to set a higher goal and aspire for new creations and innovations disallowing self-complacency and self-praise, they became keenly aware of what viewpoint and stand they should have in guiding the construction work.
Looking around the officials, the General Secretary instructed to make exact demands on design, noting that designers are the ones who write the history of Juche-oriented architecture with designs, artists drawing the image of Pyongyang and the country in the ２２nd century.
His instruction reflecting the deepest trust is, indeed, a new definition of designers who draw the blueprint for the prosperity of the country, firmly equipped with the Party’s Juche-based idea of architectural aesthetic beauty.
The instruction he gave that day as regards the design reflects his noble intention that every stage of grand construction projects we launch should be the take-off stage of civilization steadily updated by more fresh development and creation.
