The present situation facing the unprecedentedly huge revolutionary tasks further highlights the ideal of self-reliance upheld by the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
Self-reliance is the political line of the WPK which builds socialist paradise drawing on the foundation and potential of independent development.
Our Party defined the self-reliance as the basic orientation and method of development in socialist construction and set it as the permanent political line to consistently maintain it, not as the temporary countermeasure for coping with obstacles in the way of advance.
The outstanding leadership of the respected General Secretary
We vividly remind ourselves of the instruction the General Secretary gave at the Ninth Party Congress that the new five-year struggle, too would rely entirely on our own forces and the great strength of our people.
In retrospect, innumerable entities of prosperity based on self-reliance were erected on this land during the eighth term of the WPK under the wise leadership of the General Secretary who advanced the revolution in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.
The respected General Secretary possessed of the invariable will to pioneer a bright future overcoming all difficulties implanted in the mind of people the noble spirit of self-reliance and self-development in every important conference.
Whenever he set forth the grand programmes and strategic and tactical policies for the overall development of our-style socialist construction through his rare wisdom and scientific penetration so as to indicate the bright way for achieving the prosperity by dint of self-reliance, our people have redoubled their strength and courage to tide over indescribable difficulties and vigorously advance.
The entities of great strength of Juche Korea demonstrating the great power of national defence capability and monumental edifices erected in different parts of the country opening a new history of transformation are associated with our people’s precious blood and sweat, wisdom and passion and the soul of self-respect.
The respected General Secretary, who attented the inauguration ceremony of the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station in November last year, highly valued the people in Kangwon Province who have built valuable assets of prosperity with their own efforts and confidence in their own strength and stressed that the people in Kangwon Province are, indeed, the embodiments of the pioneering spirit, models of our times who prove with their steadfast patriotic loyalty and persistent efforts the vitality of the Party’s policy which demonstrates the truth that self-reliance is the only way out and anything is possible when one holds fast to the spirit of self-reliance and self-development as the driving force.
Indeed, our respected General Secretary implants deep in the mind of people the truth that self-reliance is the only way out and give them strength and courage, ceaselessly giving field guidance at many construction sites and units. He bestows great trust in those who erected creations of self-reliance.
Those our General Secretary made known all over the country wherever he visited were none other than fighters of self-reliance and he rejoiced most over creations brought about by the spirit of self-reliance.
The respected General Secretary, at the inauguration ceremony of the first-stage modernization project at the Ryongsong Machine Complex held in January last, highly appreciated success the working class of the complex achieved by waging a vigorous patriotic struggle, a creation struggle, under the uplifted banner of self-sustenance and self-reliance, and said another valuable asset has been produced to creditably consolidate the foundation of the self-supporting economy.
At the ceremony of presenting ６００mm-calibre multiple rocket launchers to the Ninth Congress of the WPK, the respected General Secretary highly commended the workers of a leading munitions enterprise who took the lead in the campaign to implement our Party’s idea of self-reliant defence defending the state, the people and the revolutionary cause by our own efforts and its strategic line on the development of the national defence.
The respected General Secretary is an outstanding leader and a peerlessly great man who sets as the priority in all realms and processes of state affairs the firm trust in the people and the way of tackling problems thoroughly based on self-reliance.
The respected General Secretary, in his policy speech at the First Session of the １５th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK held in March last, gave a meaningful instruction that what we should consider as more precious is that our faith that "self-reliance is the only way out, " which our people have firmly maintained over the long years of trials, believing in the Party and the State and encouraging themselves while tightening their belts, has turned out to be effective in practice, in reality.
Now the letters "self-reliance" can be seen everywhere in the country seething with creations and changes, and along with the letters fighters of self-reliance are increasing in number.
Self-reliance is the only way out!
Upholding this slogan, our people will bring about bigger transformations at a greater pace under the leadership of the respected General Secretary and our state will become more powerful and prosperous.
