With a noble sense of mission that he and our Party should assume full responsibility for housing construction most desired by the people, the respected Comrade General Secretary set forth the construction of ５０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang, which he had long kept in mind and prepared, as the primary fighting task of the ８th term of the Party Central Committee.
Over a month after the Party Congress, the respected Comrade General Secretary convened the ２nd Plenary Meeting of the ８th Party Central Committee and warned against a tendency toward self-protection and defeatism revealed among officials in the economic sector and solemnly declared that no concession could be allowed in the construction of １０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang.
The respected Comrade General Secretary took feasible and innovative measures for concluding the construction of １０ ０００ flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas for the year ２０２１ at the plenary meeting and gave attentive guidance over the preparations for the construction project.
He took great pains to guide the general plan for housing construction, the map showing the bird’s-eye view of the dwelling quarters of １０ ０００ flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas, and designs one by one.
Hence, a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of １０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang announcing the grand start of a historic undertaking of building ５０ ０００ flats in the capital city was held in the Songsin and Songhwa areas of Sadong District in March ２０２１ and the boom of the first spectacular blasting shook the earth.
The respected Comrade General Secretary, who personally attended this groundbreaking ceremony to make a meaningful speech, took revolutionary measures for stepping up the housing construction at subsequent major Party meetings and the ５th Session of the １４th Supreme People’s Assembly and solved all the problems including the provision of materials.
Songhwa Street was built with splendor as the first entity of transformation of the capital city thanks to the energetic guidance of the respected Comrade General Secretary who became the initiator and master of construction, guided the designs and schedule of the project in a detailed way and even inspected the construction site to give the builders strength and courage.
The year when the construction of １０ ０００ flats in the Hwasong area was going on in the wake of the completion of Songhwa Street was the year when the state’s epidemic prevention system was switched to the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system owing to an unexpected anti-epidemic crisis.
Saying that even the severe epidemic prevention situation could not check our advance toward the comprehensive development of socialist construction, the respected Comrade General Secretary wisely led the construction of １０ ０００ flats in the Hwasong area and of the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm to flawless and on-schedule completion.
Under the leadership of the respected Comrade General Secretary who personally guided the formation plans for flats to be built at the second stage in the Hwasong area, a more peculiar and imposing, yet modern and graceful street was completed in April, ２０２４.
The construction of １０ ０００ flats at the third stage in the Hwasong area was also a challenging creation campaign.
A more wonderful and characteristic architectural group of flats and public and service buildings had to be built and a wonderful landscape be arranged in parallel with the construction of regional-industry factories in ２０ cities and counties despite extreme difficulties.
Later, for the fourth stage construction in the Hwasong area in which modern and large-sized bases for cultural life had to be built in addition to the construction of １０ ０００ flats, the respected Comrade General Secretary gave detailed guidance as to the designs and construction schedule, thus leading with might and main to make the new street assume another fresh and developing aspect as against its predecessor.
Indeed, the successful over-fulfillment of the goal for building ５０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang decided by the ８th Party Congress was totally attributable to the guidance of the respected Comrade General Secretary who ensured that the construction of １０ ０００ flats in the capital city was carried out without fail every year, attended the groundbreaking and completion ceremonies and exerted all his energies.
Today, our people visualize our capital city which will be ever more beautiful, looking at the fantastic new streets, keenly realize the great love of the respected Comrade General Secretary who puts his heart and soul into the work for the people and harden their conviction that the rosy future of the best paradise in the world where all the people will lead the most blessed life will arrive in the near future.
