World-famous Writer Paek In Jun
Left in our Republic’s history of nearly 80 years is the name of Paek In Jun, who grew into a world-famous writer beloved by the country and people under the warm care of the Party.
Chairman
Paek was born in North Phyongan Province in 1920.
He devoted himself to studies, dreaming to become a writer.
However, he was drafted to the site of aggression war by the Japanese imperialists.
He, who had a narrow escape from death, became wrapped in endless joy and excitement after liberation upon hearing that President
Paek was honored to work near the President, whom he had longed for even in his dreams, in Pyongyang.
During those days, he wrote a poem in praise of the President.
The President saw that a collection of the poems he wrote in reflection of the reality of the liberated country was brought out.
Paek fought in the past Fatherland Liberation War, wearing a military uniform, and, after the war, conducted full-scale creative activities as a writer.
He came to first receive energetic guidance of the Chairman when creating the feature film "The Path to Awakening".
Afterwards, the Chairman led him to play an important part in carrying out the revolution in film, opera and drama production.
In the fifty-odd years of creation, Paek wrote lots of scenarios and librettos, plays and poems on a high level.
He was a member of the Party Central Committee and deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly.
He worked as a vice-chairman of the SPA, chairman of the Central Committee of the Writers Union of Korea, etc.
