Large Area of Fields Converted into Paddies

In an effort to sufficiently supply raw materials to the regional-industry factories, Kimhwa County converted tens of jongbos of fields in the raw materials base into paddies.

The county Party committee held several consultative meetings to discuss in depth about the issues arising in further revitalizing production.

In this process, the issue of converting a large area of paddies in the raw materials base into paddies was discussed and measures for carrying it out were taken.

Strict demands were made in growing young rice plants so as to ensure successful rice-transplantation in the converted paddies.

In particular, it built a dammed pool for providing water to paddies and pushed forward with the construction of gravity-fed waterway of １０-odd ris.

On this basis, the county concentrated efforts and means on the work for converting fields into paddies before rice-transplantation, thus completing the planned project successfully.

The county carpeted the new paddies with humus soil and applied lots of manure while propelling paddy tillage and harrowing.

Consequently, the raw materials base could start rice-transplantation as scheduled.
