Literary Persons and Artistes Who Left Clear Traces in History of Juche-oriented Art and Literature
Pak Se Yong, Writer Who Sang in High Praise of Motherland
Among the literary persons and artistes enjoying immortality under the warm care of our Party is Pak Se Yong, a writer who sang in high praise of the motherland.
Pak, who had experienced sorrow and wrath of statelessness before liberation, had written several poetical works with love for the motherland and righteous indignation.
However, he couldn’t continue creative activities owing to the brutal oppression of Japanese imperialists upon progressive literary persons and artistes in mid-1930s.
Only when the country was liberated, he could lead a genuine life of a true literary person under the benevolent care of President
The President personally taught Pak to rapidly develop culture in the liberated country and paid deep attention to his work and life.
Later, the President met with writers including Pak and gave precious instructions as to the creation of the national anthem, saying that our country is a really beautiful country with an inexhaustible supply of natural resources and treasures and that our people are resourceful people with a long history and brilliant culture.
The instruction of the President, who taught that a song reflecting the pride in having a beautiful country and a tradition of resourcefulness had to be presented to our people who were endeavoring to build a new prosperous Korea in the liberated homeland, became an important guideline illuminating the way for creating the national anthem.
Afterwards, the President wisely led the completion of lyrics of national anthem written by Pak.
On the personal initiative of the President and under his wise guidance, our people came to have the proud national anthem about the people’s country and genuine motherland.
Besides, Pak wrote lyrics of songs like “The Glorious Country” and “Victorious May” to arouse the patriotic enthusiasm of the people all out to build a new country and produced militant poetic pieces while he was working as a war writer in the severe war days.
In the post-war period, too, Pak wrote famous works suited to the Party’s ideas and the people’s aesthetic tastes and produced hymns for the leader, the country and the Party, dedicated poems, odes, lots of poems and lyrics on various and wide-ranging themes including revolutionary tradition, the Fatherland Liberation War and the reality of the Chollima era, thus further enriching the treasure house of the Juche-based art and literature till the last moments of his life.
His exploits will live in the memories of our people along with the brilliant history of our prosperous country.
