Our Country Rich in Mineral Resources (1)

Our country, called "tapestry-like land" from of old for its beautiful scenery, is abundant in mineral resources.

Among others there are hot springs good for the health of people and treatment of diseases.

Hot springs in our country whose temperature is about ２０-１００ degrees celsius contain rich minerals including calcium ion, magnesium ion, chlorine ion, bicarbonate ion, metasilicic acid, radon and hydrogen sulfide. So they are of high medicinal value.

The Phyongnam (Ryonggang) Hot Spring, one of those containing the largest amount of minerals not only nationwide but worldwide, is very efficacious for lowering the blood pressure of hypertensives and sedation.

The Onpho Hot Spring in the Onpho Working People’s Holiday Camp, boasting of its unique attraction, too, contains radon gas and minerals including bicarbonate ion, sodium ion, fluoric ion and metasilicic acid. Therefore it promotes the blood circulation and metabolism of the body and takes effect for the treatment of diseases such as chronic enterocolitis, chronic bronchitis, neuralgia, gynecopathy and automatic nerve functional disorder.

Besides, many other hot springs across the country including the one in the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, the Hwangjin Hot Spring in North Hamgyong Province, the Songchon Hot Spring in South Phyongan Province, the Unsan Hot Spring in North Phyongan Province and the Wonhung Hot Spring in Jagang Province also greatly contribute to the promotion of people’s health.

From old times, our people, who gained experience in treatment and prevention of diseases by using hot spring, created the culture of hot spring.

People take a growing interest in hot springs which help cure diseases without using medicines.
