Love for Motherland and Home Villages Gave Birth to Dauntless Heroism
The past Fatherland Liberation War was a great challenge to our young Republic and people.
However, the war, which the world called the miracle of the 20th century, clearly showed that the aggressors misjudged the Koreans and what spirit the Koreans cherished.
What is the source of the strong spirit of national defenders in the 1950s and their will to annihilate the enemy?
We can find the answer, reading the letters of petition to the front, letters of pledge and poems displayed at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum.
Still kept in the museum are lots of letters of petition in the 1950s.
Running through the dog-eared, discolored letters written by ordinary workers, farmers and youth and students over 70 years ago is a strong sentiment.
We can never be deprived of the motherland again!
Though they differed in age, career and occupation, they had only one motive for petition.
That was an eruption of the ardent love for their land, factories, homes and schools provided by President
Enjoying true happiness and dignity for five years after liberation, the generation of war victors keenly realized how miserable the slavery inflicted upon them had been and how benevolent the leader’s care and the system’s benefits were.
"We can never be deprived of the motherland again!", this was a clear answer to for what the ordinary people fought at the cost of their lives in the bloody battlefields.
To the fighters who had realized the preciousness of the motherland through their experience, their home villages and land were all of their life.
As they would be deprived of everything that was so valuable if they stepped back even an inch in the decisive battles, the wartime generation could display such irresistible mental power in the face of the then gravest danger.
Kept in the hearts of our war victors was an ideological sentiment that they couldn’t be deprived of everything that was so precious again.
This turned into the ardent spirit for defending the country and the strong will to annihilate the enemy, which gave birth to heroic legends that thrilled the aggressors in the air, on the land and on the sea of the country during the three-year war.
As the defenders of the country in the 1950s set personal examples of patriotism in safeguarding every precious thing, so we should guard everything they had protected at the cost of blood more firmly and add beauty to them.
It is the irresistible strength unique to our state and people that the heroic fighting spirit bonds two generations into one integral whole with inexhaustible life.
