One day in August ２０２１, the respected Comrade General Secretary
In several months after the groundbreaking, the riverside area was presenting a new magnificent appearance.
Feasting his eyes on the panoramic view of the construction site, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that the construction had much progressed.
After looking round the residential district, he dropped in at a flat.
While going round the characteristic and luxurious interior of the flat, an official told the respected Comrade General Secretary that it was not less stylish than a hotel room.
Pleasingly assenting to him, the respected Comrade General Secretary said the Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District had fully presented its figure in １４０-odd days.
Then he continued that, as we built a modern terraced residential district in slightly over １４０ days on an empty ground, so should we make every single decision for the people’s wellbeing in a responsible manner, looking １４０ years ahead into the future.
The officials made up their minds to remain true to the ardent sincerity of the respected Comrade General Secretary who intends to provide our people with the most wonderful things, the most civilized and dazzling creations in the world at an early date.
Fixed Entrance
Once, the respected Comrade General Secretary inspected the Pyongyang Old People’s Home under construction.
That day, he stressed the need for the designing officials to go over the design so that it could give a marked individuality to the interior and exterior of the building as a house for the aged.
After gazing at the building of the old people’s home in the yard, he pointed out that the exterior of the entrance was not suitable for the old people’s home.
The entrance resembled that of a scientific research institution or a high-rise apartment building.
He taught to redo the exterior of the entrance in such a way that it could fully preserve the features of an old people’s home and to form the front stairway well.
He said because people at advanced ages were to live in the building and some of them could have disabilities, they might find it uncomfortable to go in and out of the entrance if it had high stairs.
Stairs had to be lowered and a halfpace be arranged every two or three stairs, he added.
Our benevolent father thought of the convenience of the people when seeing an architectural structure to contribute to the promotion of the people’s wellbeing.
Thus, the entrance of the old people’s home was fixed again.
The Pyongyang Old People’s Home shines as a monumental structure of the times, still conveying the great love of the respected Comrade General Secretary who pays so much concern to the convenience, health and sentiments of the aged.
