Wihwa Island Area Which Underwent Drastic Change

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm which has splendidly been built on the bank of the River Amnok on the northwestern end of the country as an outcome of the noble ideal and long-cherished desire of the great Workers’ Party of Korea!

The brilliant reality of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, a proud epitome of socialist Korea showing the true meaning of dramatic transformation in the new era, is a miracle which can be achieved only by our great Party whose revolutionary climate is devoted service to the people.

The strong will of the peerlessly great man to put the disaster-stricken people on the meridian of happiness and the noble ideal to turn all the regions of the country into the people’s paradise brought about the eye-opening change in the Wihwa Island area, the most proud fruition of the eighth term of the Party Central Committee.

The respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un who visited the farm last May looked round the island area which had undergone drastic change and recollected the unforgettable days with deep emotions.

At the ２２nd emergency enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, which was convened in the middle of the flood-afflicted area in July two years ago, the respected Comrade General Secretary asked on what scale the officials were going to launch rehabilitation considering that there would be not a few habitable dwellings when the houses remaining of the area were repaired after the flood subsided.

No one could answer him readily.

It was not an easy matter to decide on in view of the situation at that time.

After a moment of deep contemplation, the respected Comrade General Secretary proposed to build all the dwellings anew, noting that President Kim Il Sung had already taught to build Sinuiju City nicely and saying in a determined manner that we should carry out this historic task and thus turn the area into a paradise which is envied by the whole world.

It was an extraordinary and solemn decision which could be made only by the great man, the great father who goes through thick and thin with the people, regards the people’s pains and troubles as his own and spares nothing to realize the people’s wishes and hopes.

When he visited the area again, he stressed the need to expand and propel the rehabilitation project in a forward-looking and development-oriented way from the viewpoint that it is not merely an undertaking for removing the aftermath of natural disaster but a crucial issue of implementing the Party’s far-reaching regional development programme.

At the inauguration ceremony of dwelling houses in flood-hit areas of North Phyongan Province held on December ２１, ２０２４, he noted that, as the new year began, we would launch into a new regional plan that correctly reflected our Party’s and government’s goals for the comprehensive development of socialism and was consistent with the local people’s ideals and that combined greenhouse farms were to be built on a hundreds-of-hectares-wide area of Wihwa and Taji islands the next year.

When the flood victims were spending happy days in Pyongyang, the respected Comrade General Secretary inspected the construction site for several times to build a modern rural town and unfolded another blueprint for magnificently transforming the entire island area.

Becoming himself responsible for the project, he personally guided over １７０ formation plans and more than ３ ８５０ technical designs in order for the combined greenhouse farm to be built as the best creation in terms of size and profitability.

The respected Comrade General Secretary worked out a grand plan to build the largest-ever greenhouse farm at the time when it was deemed miraculous just to build thousands of flats and a stable embankment on the land swept by the natural calamity and took every measure to provide the people in North Phyongan Province with the greenhouse farm, which made another leap forward in modernity, advanced nature and profitability as well as the architectural level.

He visited the construction site time and again to rectify the shortcomings and even pioneer a new realm of ecological and environmental protection.

Indeed, the combined greenhouse farm is just a visual aid and a textbook for practical education which comprehensively reflects the Party’s policy.

Such a huge creation is never to be found anywhere in the world and such an ideal village whose masters are none other than ordinary people has never existed.

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, the most proud creation made by our Party in the eighth term of its Central Committee, will convey for long the great patriotic will and the noble intention of believing in the people as in Heaven cherished by the respected Comrade General Secretary, who turned the island of misfortune into a paradise island of happiness, and his undying exploits performed for the overall state rejuvenation.
