Might of People United with Patriotism Works Miracles
Defenders of the country who turned out for the decisive battle of annihilating the enemy at the leader’s call brought about world-startling events one after another during the three years of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War.
In the Fatherland Liberation War, our young Republic with a history of just two years since its founding inflicted an ignominious defeat on the US-led imperialist aggressors and created the war victory myth. The key to it lies in the great strength of our people united with patriotism.

True to the Party’s call, all the people vied with one another to volunteer for military service on the war front, expressing their resolve to become victors in the sacred war for defending the country.
The movement of volunteering for military service on the war front was the manifestation of our people’s ardent loyalty and patriotism that they would defend the dignity and honor of the country from the aggression by the enemy to the last drop of their blood true to the leader’s call when the country faced trials and difficulties, and the eruption of their firm faith and pledge that they would surely make not only themselves but the descendants enjoy the dignity of independent people free from the sorrow of slaves.
As of July １１, １９５０, over ７４０ ０００ people volunteered for the war front.
Among the ranks of volunteers, over ２３０ ０００ were women.
Sons and daughters of the country who volunteered for the war front to defend the dignity and honor of the country displayed matchless bravery, self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism in every fierce battle and thus brought about miraculous victories and drove the enemy into desperation and terror.
The People’s Army soldiers waged a number of mass movements on burning heights and severe battle fields.

Shouting like this, the People’s Army soldiers inflicted wholesale deaths upon the enemy who were bragging about "the doctrine of weapon almighty" by displaying matchless bravery and self-sacrificing spirit.
The movement of "My Height" and the movement for winning the "Minchong" (democratic youth league) weaponry spread to all the frontline units and sub-units. In a year alone, over ３ ４６０ weapons and combat equipment were awarded the title of "Minchong" weaponry.
That’s not all.
The deputy company commander for political affairs of hero Kang Ho Yong, who threw himself into the group of enemies with a hand grenade in his mouth in February １９５１, launched the revenge-register movement to work off the grudge of fallen comrades-in-arms, thus arousing combatants to annihilate the enemy.
Afterwards, all the sub-units vigorously waged the movement to deal a hard blow to the enemy.
Not only the People’s Army soldiers but the people in the rear fully displayed the indomitable fighting spirit, the might united with patriotism in the sacred war for defending the country.
Other mass movements including the women’s movement to plough the fields and the campaign for donating grains to the front were waged in the fields of the country as well. Those fields were tantamount to a battlefield.
Among the patriotic movements launched by our people during the Fatherland Liberation War is also the movement for upbringing of war orphans.
Numerous women across the country brought up war orphans as their true children, regarding it as the duty of the Korean women to bring up parentless children with parental affection. Under such warm love and affection, our country’s future could grow up healthily even in the flames of the war.
Indeed, the mass movements, patriotic movements vigorously waged in the rear during the war instilled into the soldiers the confidence in victory and the might of people united with patriotism finally defeated the US imperialists, fattened up with aggression and plunder, in the Fatherland Liberation War which was in effect a confrontation between rifle and atomic bomb. This was a military miracle in the ２０th century.
Our advance for firmly defending the dignity of the Republic still continues and this sacred cause demands that all the people rise as one in response to the ardent patriotic appeal of the respected Comrade General Secretary
Only victory will always be in store for the country when all the people vigorously wage struggle, sharing the idea and intention and keeping pace with the leader as befitting the descendants of the great wartime generation in whatever adversity.
