Myth of "Mightiness" of U.S. Imperialists Totally Shattered in Korean War

Overestimating their own power, the US imperialists thought they could easily subdue and conquer our country if they applied various outrageous war methods plus the numerical, military and technical superiority.

Therefore, the notorious MacArthur bragged before the war correspondents that the US army would end the Korean war within 72 hours.

However, the tradition of "invincibility" and myth of "mightiness" of the US imperialists were scattered to pieces in the Korean war.

The US imperialists’ military and technical superiority totally collapsed and the doctrine of weapon almighty went to naught.

They committed all the up-to-date military hardware of that time to the three years of war.

However, the modernistic planes and numberless ships turned out to be impotent in the battlefield.

They were too powerless to counter our People’s Army who fought bravely, making the most of Juche-based tactics like immediate counteroffensive, continuous attack, prompt bypass and encirclement, night actions and raids.

The tunnel tactics, after the transition to positional defence, made the US doctrine of weapon almighty all the more impuissant.

The US military and technical superiority proved in vein in the sky, too.

Over 12 000 planes of the US imperialists were destroyed and brought down for the three years.

A countless number of GIs and soldiers of the allied countries died a miserable death.

The death rate versus mobilized effectives recorded the maximum in the history of war.

Furthermore, not a few generals ruined their destinies in the Korean war.

MacArthur, the so-called prominent military strategist in the US was ousted, quite a few generals joined the majority, and Dean, commander of the 24th Infantry Division of the U.S. imperialists which boasted of being "invincible", was captured.

The Korean war gave birth to a fresh truth that a rifle, when fully charged with ideology, can defeat any nukes.

It also laid bare the barbarous nature, political and moral inferiority and vulnerability of the US army before the whole world.

Commander of the U.S. Eighth Army Walker said: "Be it an infant or the aged, you shouldn’t let your hands tremble. Kill them, it’s the way to relieve yourselves from destruction and fulfill your responsibility as the UN Command soldiers." This fact eloquently shows what the "bravery" of GIs and "mightiness" of the US were.

The GIs joined the Korean war not for any political purpose or ideal but purely for pecuniary gains.

All of them were mercenaries sold for money.

They joined the war in pursuit of money and killed innocent shieldless civilians at random to taste the joy of manslaughter, but they fled as soon as they felt their lives were at stake.

This was the wretched appearance of the US aggressors.

It is as plain as noonday that such a corrupt army can never be strong.

The US suffered the first infamous defeat because of the Korean People’s Army and its tradition of "invincibility" and myth of "mightiness" were shattered to pieces.

As the groundlessness of the US military and technical superiority was revealed and the weakness of the US army was disclosed to the world in the Korean war, hundreds of millions of peoples under oppression overpowered by fear for and worship of the US were freed spiritually and turned out in the anti-imperialist front unbendingly.

A change was effected in their outlook on the US, which served as the source of power encouraging them to turn out in the struggle against imperialism and the US.

The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War verified that it is the law of history that the army and people who turn out to defend their country with confidence in the justness of their cause and their strength under the leadership of their leader are sure to emerge victorious.
