Ceaseless Frontline Journey of Great Commander

70-odd years have passed since the fireworks of war victory were set off.

The exploits of President Kim Il Sung who led the service personnel and people to a brilliant victory, ceaselessly visiting frontline posts through a hail of bullets for the destiny of the country and people, still touch heartstrings of all the people.

Recollecting with deep emotion frontline journey the President made during the Fatherland Liberation War at the risk of his life, our people fully realize again the great strength which brought about the victory on July 27, 1953.

On August 10, 1950, the President headed for Suanbo where the headquarters at the front was located after ending the operational discussion in Seoul.

It was when the car of the President was nearing Chungju.

Suddenly, there appeared lots of enemy planes in the sky.

Bombing got severer and fragments spattered near the President. However, regardless of it, the President guided evacuation.

When the enemy planes flew off, the attendants implored the President not to cover such a dangerous road any more with tears.

The President said to the suite members that he understood well their intention, noting that he, the supreme commander, couldn’t just stay in the office room as fighting soldiers were waiting for him and that his inspection to the front and encouragement to commanding officers and soldiers would hasten the victory in the war.

After we have achieved the victory in the war, we should proudly recall how we surmounted difficulties and how we smashed the US imperialists, he said. Then he proposed to continue the journey for hastening the victorious day.

It was late evening when the President arrived in Suanbo, the seat of the headquarters at the front, braving death.

As soon as he arrived at the headquarters, the President guided the council of war, gave detailed instructions as to the ultimate operational task and called upon the commanding officers to make an all-out dash for the final victory.

After a little while, the President was going to set out on his way for Kwangju.

The officials of the headquarters at the front tried to dissuade him from starting on his way to the front, saying that the Kwangju area was very dangerous as there were many reactionaries.

The President, however, left for Kwangju, saying that he must go there however severe the maneuvers of the reactionaries might be.

Looking up to the President starting on the dangerous journey for the front, the officials were moved to tears.

After leaving Suanbo, in Taejon City the President provided guidance to many affairs in the liberated regions and arrived in Kwangju City on August 11 towards morning.

Without a moment’s rest, the President visited the command of the Coastal Defence Brigade No. 26 in Kwangju City.

An official of the unit was surprised to meet the President in such a remote and dangerous place and earnestly said that he was deeply concerned about the President’s personal safety.

The President said to the official that it was nothing compared to the harshness of days when we fought with the Japanese imperialists.

At that time, we went from Manchuria to Onsong and Sinhung on foot with just a few members, but now we travel by the highway so it doesn’t involve any risk, he noted.

The President made ceaseless journey to the front with such a do-or-die determination.

Indeed, the way to the front covered by the President for the victory in the fierce war inspired service personnel and people with the might and courage of annihilation and hastened the victorious day.

The President bestowed warm love and benevolence on soldiers of the Korean People’s Army while covering the road to the front amidst the gunfire of the war.

One day in September 1951, the President went to the frontline area where the command of the 2nd Corps of the KPA was situated.

Choe Hyon, commander of the corps, was so much alarmed for the safety of the President that he even forgot to greet the President.

The President kindly said that he must go to any place wherever our soldiers were fighting no matter how far and dangerous it might be.

Like this, our soldiers were ever present in the heart of the President.

Calling for going to the height commanding Height 1211, he was going to get on the car.

Choe Hyon reported him about the dangerous movements of the enemy and proposed dropping in at the corps command first.

Saying that the reason why he visited the corps was to see with his own eyes the fighting soldiers, the President boarded the car first.

When the car had no way to advance further, the President personally pushed his way through the woody forest in the van.

Endless are the touching stories born along with the journey to the front the President covered under a shower of shells.

Indeed, the warm loving care of the benevolent father served as a nutriment which brought up all the KPA soldiers to be phoenix-like heroes and driving force which gave birth to a great victory.

The way to the front covered by the President was the unprecedented one permeated with faith in sure victory, matchless courage and pluck, and the victorious road shining with his great trust and love for the KPA soldiers and firm confidence in future.

Our people will always remember the immortal exploits performed by the iron-willed brilliant commander who won the great victory in the war while making a death-defying journey.

The history of victory of Juche Korea is carried on thanks to the wise leadership of the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

As we hold the respected Comrade General Secretary, the peerlessly great man, in high esteem, our country will shine forever as the powerful and dignified state which invariably carries forward the tradition of victory.
