Torpedo Boat No. ２１ Which Performed Miracle in World History of Naval Battles

On display at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum is Torpedo Boat No. ２１ which rendered distinguished services at the Jumunjin Naval Battle during the past Fatherland Liberation War.

Engraved on the body of the boat is a medal of Hero of the Republic which conveys its feats of displaying the dignity and honor of the heroic navy by piquantly sinking "Baltimore", a heavy cruiser of the US imperialists.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, the seamen of the ２nd Torpedo Boat Group fought bravely with the courage and pluck President Kim Il Sung implanted in their minds to sink the enemy’s heavy cruiser "Baltimore" and destroy a light cruiser, which was a great victory never known in the world history of naval battle.

This set the whole world on fire.

The US imperialists deplored that the Jumunjin Naval Battle would make even gods weep.

A military critic of the West called it the greatest miracle in the history of world’s naval battles.

Commanding officers of the ２nd Torpedo Boat Group who took part in the battle became the first heroes of the Republic and the torpedo boat group which displayed mass heroism and sank the enemy heavy cruiser was awarded the title of guards.

In July ２０１２, a decree of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly on awarding the title of Hero of the Republic on Torpedo Boat No. ２１ displayed at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum was issued.

The hero torpedo boat still teaches us the truth of history that an army guided by a prominent leader can defeat any enemies however formidable they might be.
