Merited Weapons Which Left Distinguished Traces in History of War Victory

"Minchong" ３７mm Anti-aircraft Gun

The weapon in the picture is the "Minchong" ３７mm anti-aircraft gun displayed at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum.

The gun, which belonged to Company No. ２ of the then Mixed Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion No. ２６ under the direct control of the Supreme Headquarters, rendered distinguished military services in the anti-aircraft battle in the Kosanjin area where the Supreme Headquarters was located during the past Fatherland Liberation War.

The gun had creditably fulfilled its anti-aircraft combat missions to cope with the armed invasion of the US imperialists and Syngman Rhee and his clique in the area of Pyongyang and Wonsan from １９４９.

When the war broke out, it advanced to the boundary of the River Raktong to commence its mission of anti-aircraft defence and thus successfully ensured our army’s wartime transportation.

Afterwards, it waged an active mobile warfare in several areas to reliably protect the major power stations and airports of our country from the assault of enemy planes.

The twelve stars on the gun barrel represent the number of enemy planes brought down by this gun.

Throughout the war period, this gun moved a distance of over １２ ５００ ris to successfully carry out the honorable combat mission for safeguarding the Supreme Headquarters and shot down twelve enemy planes during the mobile anti-aircraft artillery movement.

Such merits spelled the title of "Minchong" to this gun in May, １９５３.

Along with this honorable title, the feats of the "Minchong" ３７mm anti-aircraft gun are still shining in the history of the great Fatherland Liberation War.
