The respected Comrade General Secretary said that as we were consistent in maintaining the principles and methods of dealing with problems that rely entirely on our own strength in the face of ordeals, we could remain more faithful to our sacred struggle with the sense of self-confidence, not the sense of dependence, and win great gains incomparable with the result expected from anyone’s "promise" or "economic assistance."
Though we felt difficult at every step and were short of everything, we were firm in our conviction that we have nothing to rely on other than our own strength and were full of confidence in our own strength; as a result, we could unyieldingly and to the utmost do more things we wanted for the prosperity and development of the State and the well-being of the people while rapidly increasing our own potentials, and, furthermore, advance these undertakings in breadth and depth beyond precedents and beyond the imagination of the world, he stressed.
With the ideal of self-reliance as the banner of advance, our Party put an end to unbalanced and atypical development caused by the coexistence of progress and backwardness and opened up the era of turning point in which all sectors, units and regions of the country develop all together equally.
The meaningful instruction the respected Comrade General Secretary gave while inspecting the regional-industry factories in Jangyon County which inaugurated on December １８ last year still greatly touches the heartstrings of people.
That day he said that in the course of undergoing a significant change in the second year for bringing about a radical transformation in the regions and improving the living standards of the people across the country, we further hardened the belief that when we strenuously explore the path toward development and prosperity in our own way and make courageous efforts under the uplifted banner of self-reliance, there will be no unachievable ideal and a socialist paradise can be surely built on this land.
The respected Comrade General Secretary implants in the mind of our people more firmly the creed and soul of self-sufficiency and self-respect while guiding the gigantic cause of regional transformation.
When witnessing the eye-opening appearance of development of Sinpho City which is undergoing changes day by day, we solemnly recall the image of the respected Comrade General Secretary who stressed that it is important for everyone to fully realize that the key to self-reliance and self-sustenance is in themselves, rather than talking about it in words, and put it into practice when he visited the Sinpho City Offshore Farm in December ２０２４.
At the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, an unprecedented group of large greenhouses erected on the bank of River Amnok in the northwestern part of the country, an ideal country town, we recollect the instruction the respected Comrade General Secretary gave while giving field guidance at the farm under construction in October last year.
That day he ardently said that the world was clearly witnessing what miracle was being made by our determination, efforts and wisdom.
Thanks to the faith and will of self-reliance infused by the great Party, our people have become a proud generation who brilliantly realize the great cause of regional transformation, long-cherished desires while boldly undertaking unprecedentedly gigantic tasks.
The new era of prosperity of Pyongyang is another proud epitome of our era which fully demonstrates the might of self-reliance augmenting day by day under the guidance of the great Party.
With the over-fulfillment of the five-year plan for capital city construction set forth at the Eighth Party Congress, experience like a textbook and a new standard of the Juche-oriented architecture have been created to dynamically guide the construction work on a nationwide scale that will be more widely conducted in the period of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK and our people hardened the faith in unlimited might of our own strength and self-reliance.
Only by our own efforts and in our style!
This is the immutable fighting principle of the great Party and our people more keenly realize it, seeing the brilliant transformation of the socialist countryside.
According to data amassed in February last, over １１３, ０００ cultured dwelling houses were built in １, ８６０-odd farm villages of ５００-odd farms nationwide for four years after the rural revolution programme in the new era was set forth at the Fourth Plenum of the Eighth Party Central Committee.
The tremendous transformation of Samgwang-ri, Unjon County vividly shows the will and ideal of our Party to fundamentally transform all the rural communities which were thought to be a byword for backwardness and poverty relying on the strength of the people.
That’s not all.
Paradises of civilization such as the Wonsan Kalma coastal tourist area, a world-level coastal tourist city, and monumental edifices symbolic of our-style modernization of public health vividly represent the outstanding leadership abilities of our great Party which builds people’s paradise by our own efforts.
Our Party directed big efforts to the technical rehabilitation, reinforcement and development in all sectors of the national economy with the ideal of self-reliance as the banner of advance, and thereby it made sure that the overall economy has been put on a track of definite growth and solid material and technical foundations for production growth were laid.
At the Ninth Congress of the WPK, the respected Comrade General Secretary affirmed that the new five-year struggle, too will rely entirely on our own forces and the great strength of our people and will invariably hold high the ideology of believing in the people as in Heaven, single-minded unity and self-reliance as the banner of struggle and advance as we did in the past five-year struggle which pioneered the period of comprehensive development of socialism.
The ideal of self-reliance is the great ideal which clearly proves that no challenge or change in situation can delay or check our advance, and redoubles all the people’s confidence in the future of the socialist cause and enthusiasm and fighting spirit.
It is the immutable truth etched in the hearts of all the people that when we make our advance in spite of all obstacles giving full play to the might of self-reliance under the guidance of the respected Comrade General Secretary, we can achieve the most glorious victory, the most brilliant success even under the most trying conditions.
Only victory will be in store for our people who open up a new horizon of overall national prosperity with pride and confidence in our own strength firmly united around the great Party.
