Immortal Exploits of Setting World-historic Example in War to Liberate Nation from Colonial Rule

President Kim Il Sung led the anti-Japanese revolutionary war to the brilliant victory, thus pioneering a new road in the war to liberate the nation from the colonial rule and setting the world-historic example of self-reliant independence.

Although the great anti-Japanese war was unprecedentedly arduous and complicated, the President set it as the fundamental principle to achieve the country’s liberation by our own efforts, not by any outside help.

In those days, the national liberation movement in many colonial countries was conducted in forms of petition, demonstration, revolt and riot. And the national liberation cause of people in colonial countries was taken as the one which could be accomplished only by the aid of the working class of the metropolitan states.

All those kinds of struggle, however, couldn’t deal a decisive blow to the imperialists armed to teeth and nobody achieved independence of people in colonial counties.

It was the lesson drawn from the history of the national liberation struggle of many colonial counties which had experienced dismal failure and frustration that we cannot drive out the imperialist aggressive forces and achieve the cause of national liberation through a peaceful and nonviolent struggle or by relying on others.

At the Kalun Meeting held in １９３０, the President solemnly declared that it is the most important to take the firm standpoint and attitude that the master of the Korean revolution is just the Korean people and the Korean revolution should be carried out by the efforts of the Korean people themselves as suited to the actualities of our country.

At the Mingyuegou Meeting held in December １９３１, he taught to mobilize all patriotic forces against the Japanese imperialists to the armed struggle irrespective of wealth or poverty, partisanship and religion.

Since then, the revolutionary war against the Japanese imperialists was officially proclaimed under the slogan "Oppose arms with arms and, oppose counterrevolutionary violence with revolutionary violence!"

Thanks to the independent revolutionary line the President consistently adhered to during the whole period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary war and the protracted and bloody struggle for national liberation, tens of years of the Japanese colonial rule finally ended in our country and the historic cause of national liberation was achieved.

The anti-Japanese revolutionary war waged by our people was recorded in the history as the first national liberation war in which oppressed people under the colonial rule took up arms and annihilated the imperialist aggressive forces by themselves.
