Korea, I Will Glorify Thee

The patriotic pledge Chairman Kim Jong Il made on the historic Ryongnam Hill still echoes.

Korea, I will glorify thee!

It reminds us of the patriotism possessed by our Chairman.

September １, １９６０ was an ordinary day.

At that time, people couldn’t realize how significant it was that the Chairman left the first traces of revolutionary activities at Kim Il Sung University.

On the meaningful first day at the university, the Chairman ascended Ryongnam Hill with other students.

After looking around for a while, the Chairman said in an excited tone that it was the noble mission they assumed before the times and revolution, the country and the people to become masters responsible for the Korean revolution and carry forward the cause of President Kim Il Sung through generations and that now that he was on the hill, he became full of poetic sentiment.

The Chairman gladly accepted the request of the students to recite a poem and began reciting a piece of poem reflective of his great pledge.

His resolve to add luster to our country for ages reverberated far into the sky.

Looking round the students wrapped in excitement, the Chairman said he was not a poet and he didn’t recite the poem with any improvised feelings.

This feeling has always been kept in my heart and that it is the most sacred and honorable task of all of us, the faithful revolutionary soldiers of the President to exalt the honor of Korea and add eternal glory to it, he added.

The pledge made on Ryongnam Hill was an oath of a great revolutionary taken before the country and the people.

Since he made this pledge, his revolutionary activities were orientated toward the grand goal of building ours into an invincible power.

Under his wise leadership, a change was effected in all the realms of politics, military affairs, economy, culture and diplomacy as well as in the Party work and a period of great upswing in building a prosperous, powerful country was brought about.

As the Chairman led the destiny of the country and people to a bright future for tens of years as the master responsible for the Korean revolution, our country’s past and present could be adorned with miracles and glory and a more prosperous future is in store for us.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un warmly recollected the undying exploits the Chairman performed before the country and the people and earnestly noted that the Chairman, who made a firm determination to become the master responsible for the Korean revolution, defended and glorified the socialist country all his life and carried on the road of patriotic devotion to the country and people till the last moments of his life.

Though much water has flowed under the bridge, the historic pledge that echoed in Ryongnam Hill still redoubles the fighting zeal of our people full of patriotism.

The respected General Secretary affirmed that he always thinks to make ours the best country in the world as soon as possible true to the desire of the President and the Chairman and that it is his determination to put our country on top of the world.

Thanks to the devotion he made with a noble sense of mission that he shoulders the destiny of the country and people and the rock-firm will to glorify our country and make it strong, our state has been provided with the absolute might and paradises of civilization where the people’s beautiful dreams and ideals come into bloom built across the country.

An era of great changes, the era of our-state-first principle unprecedented in the history came into being.

The ongoing all-people advance for opening up the great new era of overall state rejuvenation is a sacred patriotic struggle giving free rein to the fervent aspiration and immovable faith for fully demonstrating the dignity and might of our country.

It is the unshakable will and determination of the respected General Secretary to bring earlier the victory in building a powerful socialist country on the great strength of all-people unity.

All the people in the country will remain faithful to the leadership of the respected General Secretary to translate the patriotic desire of the President and Chairman for a powerful country into brilliant reality without fail.
