U.S. Imperialist Ship of Aggression "General Sherman" Buried in River Taedong
160 years have passed since the U.S. imperialist ship of aggression "General Sherman" was buried in the River Taedong.
The invasion of the aggression ship "General Sherman" marked the start of the history of the US bloody aggression.
Seeing through the strategic importance of our country’s position in the continent of Asia from long ago, the US put forward the Korea-opening proposal to show nakedly its attempt to invade Korea.
This proposal was the manifestation of the US aggressive ambition to turn Korea into not only a simple commercial market and a base for raw materials resources but also a military strategic base.
To this end, the US first made their ship "German Sherman" intrude into Korea and forced an unequal treaty upon our country. By doing so, they schemed to open a road to the aggression against Korea.
In full compliance with the US aggression plan, the ship "General Sherman" made an invasion on the estuary of the River Taedong in mid-August 1866.
Local government officials of Korea who were keeping a strict watch on the movement of the ship strongly demanded its immediate return. However, the armed gangs ran around the river, shooting guns, recklessly killing people, plundering wealth and setting fire.
Burned with indignation at the aggressors’ insolent acts, the Korean people resolutely turned out for the struggle against the US aggressors.
People and soldiers in the Walled Pyongyang who rose up in response to the appeal of Kim Ung U, great grandfather of President
The death-defying corps floated fire ships towards the ship "General Sherman".
The ship "General Sherman" began to burn. Soon a powder magazine in the ship exploded and the ship sank to the bottom of the river.
The incident of the ship "General Sherman" clearly showed that the US imperialists are indeed the most barbarous and most shameless aggressors and the Korean people’s inveterate enemy who invaded our country from long ago.
The US imperialists, oblivious of the shameless defeat in the aggression against Korea in the past, are recklessly involved in the aggressive joint military drills against our Republic.
The US imperialists’ imprudent act of jumping into fire with brushwood on their back will only hasten their ruin.
