Literary Persons and Artistes Who Left Clear Traces in History of Juche-oriented Art and Literature

Famous Writer Kim Sang O

There is Kim Sang O, a writer who praised the motherland devoting his all to the country, in the history of the development of the Juche-oriented literature and art.

Before the liberation of the country his dream of literature could not be realized as he was a stateless young man under the colonial rule by the Japanese imperialists.

After the liberation of the country he could begin his writing thanks to the personal guidance of President Kim Il Sung.

He was honored unexpectedly to meet the President when he was the editor-in-chief of "Jayu Hwanghae", organ of the then Hwanghae Provincial Party Committee.

That day the President praised that the editorial written by him and gave him precious instructions for a long time. Next day, the President summoned him to give an important task. Several months later, the President saw to it that he studied at Central Higher Cadres Training School (University of National Economy) and worked as associate editor of Minju Joson, organ of the DPRK Government, after the graduation of the university.

Then the President let Kim Sang O join the ranks of writers as he wished.

He never gave up the creative will when he unexpectedly suffered turns and twists, always remembering great trust and loving care shown by the President.

So, he wrote in his lyric poem "My Motherland" that the motherland liberated by the President is our life and pride and eternal his embrace.

The lyric poem is still recited by a lot of people as it has deep philosophical meaning that the motherland is the embrace of the President and we cannot live outside the embrace.

Among his works are words of famous songs "We Have Planted Apple Trees on Mountains" and "Rich Harvest Comes to the Chongsan Plain".

He also wrote numerous literary comments, life stories and essays.

Thanks to the Party he became the winner of Kim Il Sung Prize.

Kim Sang O is still remembered by the people along with his lyric poem "My Motherland".
