Jangsan Stream in Pyongyang Turned into Model of Land Administration
The Jangsan stream was splendidly turned into a recreation ground for people.
In fact, there was no appreciable success achieved in the work for improving the ecological environment of the Jangsan stream and the Pothong River though it had been steadily conducted.
After learning about this situation, the senior officials of the Pyongyang Municipal Party Committee set a bold goal of face-lifting the appearance of the Pothong River and the Jangsan stream as a part of the work for protecting the land and improving the ecological environment which is reflected in the decision of the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK.
The main thing was to wash out the river-beds so that clean water flows through them in all seasons.
Under the guidance of the Pyongyang Municipal Party Committee, the project for supplying clean water to the Jangsan stream regularly even when the level of the River Taedong is low was dynamically launched.
In addition, the undertaking for full paving the bed of the stream under the Ryonghung Bridge and arranging aero-biofilter in the section of thousands of square meters was launched with an attempt to remove deposit and noxious insects.
Though there were not a few ordeals and obstacles, the efforts paid off and finally the water quality has further improved.
Hundreds of insecticidal lamps were installed around the stream and lots of fish released, thus making it possible to exterminate noxious insects in a biological way.
Wonderful is also a boating-ground newly built in the promenade around the Sanghung Children’s Park in Sosong District.
A beautiful nocturnal view of the Jangsan stream adds much to the pleasure of the people.
The happy looks of people full of delight and optimism vividly show the validity and vitality of our Party’s policy.
