Farm Villages Jubilant with Rich Catfish Harvest
It Is Thanks to Party’s Policy
Officials and farmers of the Jasan Farm in Phyongsong City jubilant with rich rice crop and catfish harvest unanimously say that it is thanks to the Party’s policy and that they produced rich rice crop and fish harvest and the land became fertile as they followed the Party’s instructions.
They buckled down to paddy-field fish farming this year with a firm determination, true to the Party’s policy on encouraging fish farming in paddies.
Based on watertight preparations like the selection of right soil and securement of catfish fries and combined fodders, they released hundreds of thousands of catfish fries in five-hectare paddy fields from early June to mid-June in a step-wise way.
After ８０-odd days, the paddy fields were fully stocked with catfishes to the great delight of the farmers.
The delight of harvest was so great.
They harvested over ten tons of catfishes on the first day of harvest and ６０-odd tons for several days.
It was not all.
Though they didn’t weed the paddies nor apply fertilizer and agrochemicals to them, the number of grains per ear in those paddies is remarkably greater than that in regular fields which were fertilized for several times.
Now the rice ears there are so heavily loaded with grains that they might fall down at any moment.
Thinking it was too good to be true, the officials and farmers counted the number of grains again and again and exclaimed that the policy on paddy-field fish farming sure is advantageous.
Better still, the catfishes are being supplied to war veterans, disabled soldiers, teachers and children at the nursery and kindergarten.
The more their delight grows, the keener the officials felt that our Party’s policy brought about such a proud reality.
Witnessing the new scene, new life and new delight of socialist countryside, the officials and farmers unanimously say that the Party’s policy for the people is the best.
Laughter Both on Farmland and at Home
Not long ago, the Ryongchon Farm in Wonsan City also harvested catfish amid the interest and expectation of lots of people.
The whole farm was animated.
Spectacular indeed was the sight of digging up catfishes swarming in the paddy fields.
The officials and farmers were wearing a bright smile and everyone marveled at the surprising harvest beyond expectation.
The farm supplied the farmers with catfish as soon as they harvested them and every single person received quite a lot of catfish.
Housewives were more delighted than anyone else.
They racked their brains about how to cook tasty catfish dishes, full of laughter and delight.
Every family was full of pride of rich rice crop and catfish harvest.
The result of the policy on encouraging fish farming in paddies adds much to the delight of farmers.
Resolve to Expand Fish Farming in Paddy Field
The township farm of Thaethan County recently ingathered catfishes in paddy fields with great delight.
Witnessing the happy looks of the farmers being supplied with catfishes, officials of the farm expressed their regret thinking that they would have achieved more successes if they had concretized the work of fish farming in all the workteams as the sub-workteam No.３ directly belonging to the farm did.
The head and members of the sub-workteam No. ３ directly belonging to the farm dedicated their all efforts to the fish farming with the single mind to take the lead in implementing the Party’s policy on encouraging fish farming in paddy fields.
As a result, the sub-workteam ingathered catfishes as big as forearm and had an unprecedentedly good crop of rice to take the first place at the farm.
Several workteams of the farm also ingathered catfishes (０.７~１.２kg) to provide for their farmers.
Meanwhile, the officials of the farm reviewed this year’s fish farming in paddy fields to draw lessons and redoubled their confidence and efforts.
They make a new plan to expand the fish farming next year with the belief that everything goes well if they do as the Party instructed.
