Course of WPK Which Has Propelled Advance of World Socialist Movement

The foundation of the Workers’ Party of Korea, new type Party of the working class and the Juche-based revolutionary Party, by President Kim Il Sung ８１ years ago is a historic event of great significance for our people in shaping independent destiny. Since then the WPK has been faithful to its cause upholding the banner of Juche and made great contributions to strengthening the world socialist movement through resolute struggle for building an ideal society of people on this land.

In the １９９０s the imperialists desperately intensified anti-socialist offensive vociferating about the "end" of socialism when socialism collapsed in several countries which were building socialism.

At that time Chairman Kim Jong Il made public famous works including "Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable" and "Socialism Is a Science" to scientifically and theoretically prove that socialism is the ideal and justice of popular masses and its victory is inevitable and gave the world progressives confidence in socialism while dealing a severe blow to the imperialists.

When the revolutionary parties of the world were in agony as they did not know how to do party building and party activities, Chairman Kim Jong Il published "On the Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building", "The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party" and other famous works to clarify in detail the basic principles to be consistently maintained in the Juche-based revolutionary party building and the ways for strengthening international unity and solidarity of revolutionary parties.

The revolutionary and progressive parties aspiring after socialism and independence received the eternal banner of struggle and treasured sword of invincibility and bravely turned out for the socialist cause with fresh vigor.

The WPK powerfully encouraged the struggle of the revolutionary people for rebuilding socialism by providing a lot of communist parties, workers’ parties and progressive parties in the world with the program for the joint struggle.

On the initiative of our Party, the historic Pyongyang Declaration "Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism" was adopted at the conference attended by delegates of a number of communist parties, workers’ parties and progressive parties in the world held in Pyongyang on the ８０th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Today the WPK is powerfully demonstrating its great dignity and authority as the Juche-based revolutionary party leading and pushing ahead with the socialist cause.

The WPK’s experience and practical example in the building of socialism serve as motive force implanting validity of the cause of socialism and invincibility of its victory in the mind of world progressive parties and people and encouraging the common cause of mankind.
