Meaningful Lecture on Horticulture

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un works heart and soul to beautify the appearance of the country and provide the people with happy, civilized and rich life.

One March day in ２０２１, the respected General Secretary guided the work of designing of the Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District giving a meaningful lecture on horticulture.

That day he stressed the need to conduct well afforestation and greening in the terraced residential district saying that the afforestation of Puksae Kangan Street and the Pothong Riverside, in particular, should be peculiarly made suitable to the status of luxurious residential district.

Noting that many good species of trees and flower shrubs should be planted, he talked about the Hoeryong white apricot tree.

He said that azalea and royal azalea are good to see in mountains but they are unattractive in cities. He continued that Hoeryong white apricot is good among apricot trees, giving detailed instructions for planting Hoeryong white apricot.

Presently, he said oil-bearing chestnut tree (Xanthoceras sorbifolia) is a good species of tree.

In fact, President Kim Il Sung had personally grown the oil-bearing chestnut tree in the garden of his residence to learn in detail about its biological characters and economic effectiveness and indicated the ways for dynamically waging the afforestation of the tree as a mass campaign.

The respected General Secretary said the oil-bearing chestnut tree is very good to see not only in blooming season but also after flower-falling with the help of its deep blue leaves. Then he said he saw the oil-bearing chestnut tree which was ３-４ meter tall some time ago and earnestly instructed to widely spread such tree.

He continued that the red maple tree (Acer rubrum) is also good and it would be good to plant such maple trees together with fir trees as garden trees.

Then he taught the issue of laying out a green area on the bank of River Pothong beside Puksae Kangan Street.

Receiving his teaching about horticulture including flowers, trees and ground covering plants, the officials deeply felt about boundless thoughts and mind of the respected General Secretary.

The respected General Secretary giving field guidance at the site of fourth-stage construction in Hwasong area specially emphasized that it is a major principle of the Party’s policy on the capital city construction to set new standards in urban management and pay deep attention to cultural environmental management including greening and indicated the orientation and ways for implementing it.

When visiting the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm and Ragwon County, the respected General Secretary put forward the issues of creating peculiar landscape of woods and conducting well the designing and afforestation.

The story of the meaningful lecture on horticulture five years ago was a touching story produced by the ardent desire, grand plan and revolutionary will of the respected General Secretary to develop our country into the most beautiful country in the world and make our people enjoy the highest civilization.
