Historic Meeting That Sets New Milestone in Training Elite Strong Army
Third Meeting of KPA Company Leaders Held

The Third Meeting of Company Leaders of the Korean People’s Army was held in the capital city of Pyongyang on Oct. ２２ and ２３ at a time when the core and vanguard role of our legendary army is being highlighted in the gigantic transformation struggle for reliably defending the inviolable sovereignty of our glorious motherland, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and the honor of the Korean people and for ushering in a new era of prosperity.

The meeting, the first gathering of the entire army after the historic Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is of great practical significance in redoubling the powerful driving force for building a strong army in the new era by arousing all the company leaders of the entire army to the struggle to turn all the companies into elite combat ranks devotedly defending the Party’s ideology and cause and into all-mission units capable of fulfilling any combat duty independently while consistently regarding it as the starting point and main link in strengthening the entire army to reinforce each company, the main combat unit of the People’s Army and a base for life of the service personnel.

The meeting comprehensively analyzed and reviewed the successes and experience gained in the struggle of recent years to implement the line of building a strong army based on priority to strengthening the companies, and discussed the tasks and practical ways for making the companies of the whole army the elite combat groups capable of surely guaranteeing the victory in the revolutionary war in military and technical aspects by bringing about substantial and fundamental improvement in the actual war capability of companies in the viewpoint of the goal of strengthening companies set forth by the Party at present.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, guided the meeting.

Major commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence and the military and political commanding officers of the large combined units of the KPA courteously greeted the Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the Republic.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared on the platform, all the participants in the meeting raised stormy cheers of emotion as a token of their highest tribute to the ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander who is ushering in the greatest heyday of strengthening the revolutionary armed forces with his unique idea on army building and outstanding commanding art.

Present there were company leaders of the armed forces of the Republic and commanding officers of military and political organs at all levels.

The platform was taken by Pak Jong Chon, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Kim Song Gi, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Yu Kwang U, first vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, military and political commanding officers of all services and large combined units of the KPA and exemplary company leaders in implementing the Party’s military line.

The national anthem of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was played solemnly.

Comrade Kim Jong Un made an important speech "The Building of Strong Army in the New Era and the Tasks of Company Leaders".

Expressing his pleasure to see the company leaders, young core members of our armed forces and the commanding officers of the main combat units at the Third Meeting of Company Leaders of the Korean People’s Army which will leave a clear mark in the historic course of the cause of building a powerful army in the new era, he extended his deep thanks to the company leaders of the whole army who are playing the cornerstones in ensuring the mightiness of the revolutionary armed forces and the prosperity of the DPRK at basic units of our army.

Saying that recorded in the history of our army’s struggle are precious traces of the company leaders’ responsible and devoted service, Comrade Kim Jong Un stated that it is the strength of our army and the pride of our Party and state to have such commanding officers of the combat units who are faithful to their duty with high awareness and staunch efforts, regarding their life dedicated to the motherland and their comrades-in-arms as the highest honour. And he extended militant encouragement to the officers and men at the companies of the whole army who are spending the days of honorable service to reliably defend the national sovereignty and the theaters for socialist construction.

Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified the intention of the Party Central Committee, which set it as the prerequisite task and realistic goal to be achieved in the new long-term plan to train the strongest armed forces in the world, to convene the meeting of company leaders of the whole army as the first one in the military field after the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The main link the Party Central Committee consistently demands and directs efforts in strengthening the army is just the company, and the company is in the most important position for the unprecedented great cause of army-building to be carried out by us, he said, stressing that the line of building the strong army based on attaching importance to the companies and strengthening them is the best option for improving the appearance of the whole army at the earliest possible time.

The general orientation for strengthening the companies is to improve their combat capability and appearance in line with the prestige and might of the elite revolutionary armed forces, he said, stating that the might of our army would be boosted incomparably when all the companies of the entire army are purified in an ideological and moral aspect, turned into a strong elite unit in military and technical aspects and consolidated into perfect combat forces flawless in their regular appearance.

Noting that the company, the main combat unit of the People’s Army, should naturally embody the mightiness and dignity of our armed forces and the might of the powerful army should be displayed in the appearance of the company, he expressed the steadfast will of the Party Central Committee to pave a shortcut to training the powerful army in the new era with trust in the company leaders of the whole army.

He referred to the importance of the company leaders’ role to play in the struggle for turning the whole army into elite armed forces all at once at an early date as planned by the Party and as demanded by the Korean revolution.

Saying that the current meeting should be an occasion for bringing about a new change with high awareness after more clearly understanding the position of the company in building a powerful army in the new era, he set forth the militant tasks and ways to be held fast to as key in strengthening the company, the cell for building a strong army.

Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified the main goal for bolstering up the combat capability of the company that the Party is planning to push ahead in a full-scale with the current meeting as the starting point, and its epoch-making significance in implementing the Party’s military strategic policy.

He stressed the need for the company leaders, who always share the life with the soldiers without slightest formality, to become elder brothers and true comrades-in-arms of the company soldiers before being their commanders and show their warm sincerity and devotion to turning the companies into a dear home of soldiers while consistently reading and keeping in mind the trust and request of the people who entrusted their sons and daughters to them.

He indicated the principled issues for the company leaders, the commanding officers of new generation who should firmly carry forward the true nature of our army as the army of the Party and the army of ideology and core elements who should lead the soldiers directly to victory in the battlefields, to fully make the companies ideologically elite and steadily improve the company management and service personnel’s living under the strong military discipline.

Saying that the key to successfully carrying out the important tasks for strengthening the companies is for the company leaders to fully prepare themselves ideologically, morally and by capability and fulfill the role of assigned organizers and commanders, he mentioned the political, ideological and military qualifications and abilities to be possessed by the company leaders of the armed forces of the Republic under the uplifted banner of building a powerful army decided by the Party Central Committee.

He clarified that the main spirit of the Third Meeting of Company Leaders of the Korean People’s Army is to build the strongest army and accelerate the Korean-style military revolution by training the strongest companies.

Saying that if all the companies of the entire army are prepared to be the strongest, the war posture of our armed forces will be perfect and the goal of building a powerful army in the new era will be attained, he expressed the belief that the company leaders of the whole army would fully realize their mission in building a powerful army and perform responsible action and thus attain the new goal of strengthening the company without fail.

All the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" in reflection of their highest respect to the greatest brilliant commander who declared the immortal programme for the eternal mightiness and invincibility of our revolutionary armed forces.

All the participants hardened their solemn will to fully demonstrate the honor and absolute might of our armed forces guaranteeing the victorious advance of the country and the revolution, holding fast to the militant banner of strengthening the company and bolstering up the military muscle provided by Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Kim Song Gi, minister of National Defence, made a report at the meeting.

The reporter said that the past seven years since the fifth meeting of company leaders and political instructors of the KPA are a proud chronicle in which the mightiness and bravery of our revolutionary armed forces no army in the world can match have been fully demonstrated and rapid progress has been made in the struggle for strengthening the companies of the whole army into elite combat groups under the outstanding ideology and leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Thanks to the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, who advanced scientific lines and policies for turning our revolutionary armed forces into the elite and powerful ones and let the entire army seethe with enthusiasm for arming itself with the revolutionary ideology and cultivating spiritual strength, the companies of the whole army were imbued with the indomitable spirit and brave stamina peculiar to our revolutionary armed forces strong and invincible with ideology, he noted.

The absolute trust of Comrade Kim Jong Un, who put forward the People’s Army as the main core and engine promoting the overall development of socialism, is the fundamental source that enabled our service personnel to continuously write fresh biographies of proud creation and feats in the vanguard of the worthwhile construction struggle for realizing the long-cherished desire of the Party and the people, he stressed.

The reporter referred to the fact that the valuable successes have been made in bolstering up the political and military might of the companies thanks to the high revolutionary enthusiasm and the devoted efforts of the company leaders of the entire army who have faithfully upheld Comrade Kim Jong Un’s idea of attaching importance to the companies and strengthening them.

He said that the companies became fortresses for devotedly defending the Party Central Committee as the service personnel of the KPA were trained into the ones possessed of ideological and moral qualities characterized by the noble outlook on life to find the highest pride and glory in carrying out the Party’s order, regarding the implementation of the Party’s order as their first duty and honour, and the pure patriotic loyalty to offer the lives for the country without expecting price and reward.

He said that the company leaders have fully demonstrated their companies’ combat capabilities in the struggle for defending security of the country and the people and registered remarkable successes by concentrating on carrying out the Party’s policy of bringing about a radical turn in training, regarding it as the most important mission of the revolutionary armed forces and their first revolutionary duty to control all challenges threatening sovereignty and security of the Republic and reliably secure peace and development militarily.

He referred to the fact that the companies worked world-startling miracles in the theaters of grand construction for realizing the long-cherished desire of our Party and the ideal of the people while responding to the great trust of the Party Central Committee, which assigns stiff tasks to the People’s Army before all others in any difficulties in the advance of revolution, with the vigorous advance of loyalty and feats.

The report analyzed and reviewed the deviations to be overcome in strengthening the companies.

The reporter said that whether all companies of the People’s Army are strengthened into elite combat groups or not mainly depends on the company leaders’ awareness, strenuous exertions and activities.

He called upon all the participants to remain faithful to the ideas and leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un and strive to bolster up the combat capabilities of the companies, keeping in mind a deep sense of mission of being responsible for the main combat units of the ever-victorious heroic army which is demonstrating its might as the strongest in the world under the leadership of the great brilliant commander.

The report was followed by a video show dealing with the noble ideological and spiritual world of the company leaders who implemented the order of the Party at the cost of their lives, and their skillful combat command.

Introduced at the meeting through videos were the fresh experience of the commanding officers of the companies created in the practical struggle for implementing the Party’s idea and policy on attaching importance to the companies.

The videos showing the experience gained in the course of intensifying the actual war drills by the excellent company leaders, who regarded combat drills as the first revolutionary task not to be missed under any conditions and circumstances as required by the reality pressing our army for the qualitative change, touched the heartstrings of the participants with extraordinary influence and infiltration.

While watching the videos, the participants in the meeting acquired methods and excellent experience to turn the companies into invincible elite forces ready to carry out their mission promptly and accurately under any adverse combat situation by concentrating all efforts on strengthening the combat capability of the companies. They also realized once again the awareness that their patriotic loyalty to the Party and the state should be verified by rounding off combat preparations before any success.

The venue of the meeting was full of the extraordinary determination and militant enthusiasm of the passionate commanding officers of the new generation to courageously fight in the vanguard of defence and creation for the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, for the brilliant victory of the great cause of building a rich country with a strong army and for peace and happiness of our people.

The meeting was followed by a ceremony of awarding Party and state commendations to exemplary company leaders who performed distinguished merits in strengthening their companies.

Yu Kwang U, first vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army, read out a decree of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK.

A citation of the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea was awarded to Choe Kon, Yun Myong Nam and An Ok Gyong.

Order of National Flag First Class went to five persons, Order of National Flag Second Class to １７ persons, Order of National Flag Third Class to ５０ persons and Distinguished Military Service Medal to １７２ persons.

The venue of the awarding ceremony was seething with boundless gratitude and pledge of loyalty to Comrade Kim Jong Un who values the devoted efforts of ordinary company leaders defending the basic units of our army and puts them on the high platform of honour.

The meeting marked a significant occasion in bringing about a radical turning point in the struggle to further consolidate all the companies of the entire army into perfect combat groups elite in ideological, spiritual, military and technical aspects, the cornerstone supporting the mightiness of our revolutionary armed forces and the prosperity of the state.
