Patriotic Mind Reflected in Certificates of Intangible Cultural Heritages

At the Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage-2025, held last year, several persons who had been devoting their sincerity to glorifying our cultural heritages were awarded with the special prize.

Among them was Jo Jong Won, a teacher of the History Faculty of Kim Il Sung University.

For the past 9 years of his teaching career, he discovered and registered eight intangible cultural heritages.

He started this work by registering "Sleighing", a folk game favored by all the children, as an intangible cultural heritage.

Since then he felt all the more keenly the fact that there were still lots of intangible cultural heritages to be discovered.

He set it as one of his research tasks to register intangible cultural heritages and devoted efforts to securing old books related to relevant heritages and necessary materials.

His ardent patriotism of glorifying our cultural tradition is reflected in 8 national intangible cultural heritages including "Korean Wedding Custom", "Korean Greeting Manners" and "House-moving Custom".

Indeed those cultural heritages discovered by such precious patriotic minds constitute our excellent folk tradition.
