True Stories about Korean War -- Who Started War? (3)
Deployment for Attack
The U.S. deployed the local armed forces to be ready for an attack on the North.
They built positions along the 38th parallel and concentrated the puppet army forces there and continued to reinforce the frontal units.
A Japanese book "Korean War" writes: "Five divisions are deployed on the forefront area near the 38th parallel and three divisions in the vicinity of Seoul as operational reserves."
And 20 combat police units were sent to form the depth along the 38th parallel.
The U.S. also took care that preparations be made for a swift involvement of its own armed forces in the war.
The U.S. armed forces stationed In Japan was amassed around the naval ports and airports.
Many Japanese airfields and naval ports were expanded and reconstructed to deploy 3 regiments of "B-26s" and "B-29s", 6 regiments of fighters and 2 regiments of cargo planes were deployed in those ports.
It was very clear even for non-military experts to see that the deployment was entirely for an all-round armed attack on the DPRK.
